Who can forget Martin Guptill getting run out on the last ball of Super Over and New Zealand could not become Champions even after getting exactly the same number of runs in 50+1 Overs.
So, now the focus has shifted to the age-old rivalry between England and Australia.
So the 132 year old championship will have it’s latest edition in 2019. English Players are obviously on Cloud 9. However, The English Captain Joe Root has already accepted that Ashes is going to be even bigger than World Cup.
England playing on their home soil with the momentum of being the world cup champions, certainly are favourites. But, can we take Australia lightly? Obviously not.
With Warner and Smith back into team and Starc back into his prime form make aussies really tough to beat.
England on the other hand have called Jofra Archer for the first time in tests. Who can forget his heroics in the world cup final. But would he be effective enough to do in the longest format what he does in shorter formats. Only time will tell.
So who is the man to look out for in this ashes? My take is Ben Stokes. This guy is in all kinds of limelight after the world cup. Whether about his heroic batting, superb temperament or that over throw, Ben Stokes is everywhere.
He has been named as English Vice Captain again. Even Ricky Ponting has declared him as the biggest threat in Ashes and when someone like Ricky speaks you have to take that really seriously.
What about Jason Roy then? Will he carry his brilliant form into The Ashes? If that happens Australia will surely be in trouble.
It’s so much to see in this ever heated competition. Will England beat Australia or Australia will show some heroics? Let’s enjoy the furious battle….
