Afghanistan’s Rise In Test Cricket

‘ Afghanistan Won By 224 Runs ‘ that’s what the scoreboard shows but it doesn’t shows the emotions behind it. A team that has fought many battles outside the field to come on field and probably progressed faster than anyone else.

Afghanistan who were just 2 test matches old, who would have thought would go on to win against the mighty Bangladesh in their home. Remember this Bangladesh side has beaten even England here.

What comes as a surprise is not their bowling but the temperament Afghans showed in their batting. Getting a 342 here is not an easy task by anyway, even the mightiest of batting sides would fail to do that. But that effort in the first innings straight away set them in the drivers seat.

Let’s talk about bowling, Rashid Khan is one of the best bowlers of present day cricket and he has now shown it in the longest format also. He actually scalped through the Bangladesh line up in both the innings.

Rashid has really come as a Super hero for Afghanistan cricket. They need more of youngsters coming as senior pros like Mohammad Nabi have retired after a great journey.

He got some really good support from veteran Nabi and young Zahir who looks really promising as well. Thus their bowling hunted in a pack and never allowed any partnership to settle which indeed made sure Bangladesh don’t get big scores in either of the innings.

Afghanistan as a team have always shown a lot of promise in the shorter format but this victory comes as a real good news for the cricket world as we need good teams to keep people engage with test cricket.
