Today, everyone is talking about Deepak Chahar’s heroics but when did it all start?
It was the first match of 2010-2011 Ranji Season for Rajasthan. They were against Ravi Teja’s Hyderabad. An 18 year old fast bowler was making his debut. His name? Deepak Chahar.
He made a dream debut by taking 8 wickets for mere 10 runs while bundling the Hyderabad team for just 21 runs. Everyone started looking up to him to represent India.
7 years later, He got to play for the mighty CSK in 2018 IPL. This was the time when things started changing. The Midas Touch of Mahi worked again. Deepak performed brilliantly for CSK and got his maiden India call the same year.
But what about the present situation? We have to play two World T-20 in the next two years and must have enough players prepared for the upcoming challenge specially people who have performed in T-20s.
Deepak Chahar has literally done everything right in this series being the Man of the Series, getting a hat trick, getting world best figures of 6 wickets for just 7 runs.
Talking about India’s pace line up Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Bumrah have a sure shot berth in the squad. However, Bhuvi has been suffering from injuries for a long time now. Bumrah is also out with a back injury.
Thus Khaleel and Deepak are regularly getting chances to play for India. Deepak has been exceptional with the new ball while Khaleel has performed well in crucial overs.
The thing that goes in Chahar’s favour is that he has started bowling well in death also. Yesterday, he came back for second spell and got wickets at crucial times.
With world T-20 round the corner Deepak has definitely put up his case very strong. It certainly looks like we will see him in the upcoming world T-20.
