In the recent times, Indian Bowling had performed almost everywhere. Whether it’s England, South Africa, Australia or as of now in New Zealand.
But what about our batting woes outside the subcontinent? We have missed winning opportunities in England and South Africa even after our bowlers performed brilliantly.
Almost the same thing is happening in New Zealand. Someone like Ishant Sharma, who was not 100% fit before the test, came out and bowled brilliantly.
On the other hand, our batters apart from Mayank Agarwal and Rahane, hardly gave any fightback against the kiwi lineup.
Crumbling for a score of mere 165 in the first innings itself had closed most of the doors for our team but even in second innings things didn’t improve much.
Australia was one such tour where our batters did perform well and we eventually went on to win the series. However, things were completely opposite in all other tours.
In Ishant, Shami and Bumrah, we have probably got the best pace lineup backed up by Ashwin and Jadeja. They have kept performing consistently.
However, without quality performance from the batting line up we can not expect our team to lift the Test Championship Trophy.
Much more to go before we actually come to a conclusion, but things need to improve a lot to get positive results……..
