A Bond Of Cricket That World Cricket Will Always Cherish

With these words Suresh Raina announced his retirement right after MS Dhoni’s retirement.

Cricket has always been a game where you find beautiful relationship among the players.

Being a team game it always forms a beautiful bond and you find players living together as they are family members.

But still you might never find the kind of friendship Suresh Raina & MS Dhoni shared.

Last Saturday i.e. on 15th of August when MS Dhoni announced his retirement, each and every cricket fan got emotional.

But they got even more emotional when Suresh Raina also announced his retirement right after Dhoni’s Retirement.

You will hardly ever find such story where players kept on playing together for same team, same franchise and then retired on the very same day.

Their bond is quite interesting right from the beginning

1. Both Dhoni & Raina kept on playing together for Indian Team since 2005.

2. They played together for Chennai Super Kings right from the first IPL season in 2008.

3. The Australian Tour of 2014-15 was the last test series for both of them.

4. Now, they have announced their retirement on the very same day.

Their statistics show that they were the best in business for India in the middle order scoring at an average of 50+.

More than just number, there partnership was important for seizing crucial moments of the game.

Whenever they batted together their individual game used to improve a lot and that always happen when you get the kind of support from the other end.

They were the part of both World Cup 2011 and 2013 Champions Trophy.

India had a formidable middle order for years since they made their debut.

However, in 2019 World Cup when we didn’t have Raina in team, we failed as a unit, specially our middle order didn’t perform at all.

World Cricket will always miss both of these legends individually and as partners as well.

However, they will keep playing for CSK together and I believe now as they don’t have national duties on their shoulders they will become even more dangerous in IPL.
