IPL 2020 : Week 1

Hello Guys,

IPL and Surprises always go hand in hand.

Similar was the case with IPL 2020: First Week.

While, everyone thought it would be the first match that’s going to be exciting, actually the second match between DC and KXIP turned out to be a stunner.

Match 1 : CSK vs MI

After 14 months, finally MS Dhoni was back to action and you could see the emotions of cricket fans globally pouring on to the social media.

What’s the one thing that you associate with CSK the most???

They always find ways to get the job done even if it looks almost impossible.

Personally, I didn’t like the squad of both the teams.

While CSK played Murali Vijay and dropped Imran Tahir, MI played Saurabh Tiwari and not Ishan Kishan.

On paper, CSK looked a bit weak. They don’t have Raina and Harbhajan in their squad.

Bravo is injured and Tahir was dropped.

But, Faf with those three beautiful catches and then a dependable knock did wonders for them.

Rayudu, who was out of touch in last season got a scintillating knock.

But, the player to watch out for was Sam Curran. He delivered with both bat and ball and gave the right balance to the team.

Mumbai, on the other hand, looked a bit rusty.

All the top 5 batsmen got starts but none of them carried on and thus fell short of what was a good total on that track.

It would be interesting to see how they will us their bowling line up in next matches. Specially, would they be able to use Trent Boult effectively.

Match 2 : DC vs KXIP

Two young Indian guns and two young IPL capatains in Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul.

The predictions were in the favour of DC and at the end they proved to be correct.

However, the players that actually performed in this match were a bit different from expected.

Stoinis for DC and Mayank Agarwal for KXIP played breathtaking knock giving life to a lifeless match.

Contrary to the expectations, the top order of DC failed badly as Shaw, Dhawan, Pant and Hetmyer didn’t perform at all.

But the two most interesting incidents of the match were……

1. Umpire calling a short run when it was a legit run. Eventually, KXIP fell one run short only.

2. KXIP couldn’t get a single run for the last three deliveries which is quite rare.

Eventually, DC won the super over as they had to chase only 3 runs.

Rabada was as always deadly with his line and lengths which eventually turned out to be crucial.

What are your views on the first week of this IPL season??
