Hello Guys,
So, after a wait of 8 months and 7 days Team India will finally play an International Match.
Even though we had a super busy IPL for the last two months watching India in the blue jersey is a different feeling altogether.
Also, it would be a tough challenge for team India to get into the groove from the word go.
Even though these guys have played IPL for their respective franchises, playing as a unit in Australia against Australia would be a huge challenge.
However, things are not as smooth as they seem.
Here are a few points to ponder upon for Team India :
1. Rohit Sharma’s Absence ->

Rohit Sharma is not available for limited overs and also in the first two tests.
This clearly hampers India’s chances as Rohit has always performed exceedingly well Down Under.
2. Absence of Virat Kohli in Tests ->

While Virat is available for ODIs and T20s, he is unavailable after the first test.
He will fly back to India for the birth of his first child.
Virat is India’s most dominant batsman in Australia and no one can ever match his records in Australia.
3. Injuries in the Pace Department ->
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is not available for the complete tour.
In his absence it would be difficult to create balance in the limited overs format.
Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the First Two Tests.
He along with Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah are probably the best pace trio India have ever got.
It was this trio who made India lift the trophy last time.
It will be interesting to see whether Mohammed Siraj or Umesh Yadav will be able to fill his shoes properly.

4. Pink – Ball Test
India have played only 1 Pink – Ball test that too in Indian Conditions against Bangladesh.
While Australia have played 7 of them which is the most number of Pink – Ball Tests for any team.
Things seam to change a lot with the Pink Ball and Day – Night conditions.
Also, this is the first time India is touring Australia without MS Dhoni and thus they will certainly miss the experience he brings on the table.
While we consider all these points, it’s still a clear fact that Indian Team is a performing better than Australia overall in the last few years.
They have also beated them when they toured here last time.
It would also be interesting to see how Covid – 19 Pandemic has affected members of both the teams as things haven’t still got better.
The evident changes certainly make a great impact on Mental Health of players.
The quarantine and bio bubble rules are quite tough and depressing. As players you need to get over them really quick.
Let’s see how all these things impact this series between the two Cricket Giants.
So, what are your expectations from this tour of India??

Even though I hate to admit I do feel Australia will win though I hope my prediction is completely proved wrong.
In the tests Australia have Warner and Smith as dependable batsmen.
Virat and Rohit’s absence will definitely hurt a lot.
I think a lot will depend on Pujara in batting..
In limited overs, Rohit’s absence will hurt a lot cause India rely heavily on the top three and that is what has proved to be an Achille’s heel. Still did not get why Suryakumar Yadav is not there..

Great Insights, Lavanya!!!
I too hope India will do good. Pujara will be really crucial and even I am really shocked not to see Surya Kumar Yadav in this team!!!

Yah that’s really going to be tough .. While going through the stats I found that Rishabh Pant had made the second most runs in the last Ind Aus Series that India won…Virat was on third with 282 runs.. but the test series will definetly depend a lot on Pujara especially considering that there might be a tussle with the opening positions and a weak middle order.
And yes our pace attack will need to fire especially after Warner and Smith have returned

Exactly!!
The biggest change in Aussies is the return of Warner and Smith. We will also miss Ishant Sharma who bowled brilliantly last time.

Definetly. Though I find it amusing that the BCCI has stated that he is fit but still ruled out.
The same with Hardik’s injury. Earlier they said that he wouldn’t ball and then he bowled 4 overs in today’s match. Even rohit’s injury is uncertain. It is really worrisome that so many players are getting injured. Like even Bhuvi is injured..

Yeah there’s definitely some communication lag between BCCI and players or even physios.
The injuries are quite surprising as they got complete rest of 6 months or so.

Yah in this situation when you will have the t20 world cup and are playing thr test championship its really scary. Lets hope to get some clarity on this soon. And considering that the ipl will be played in less than 6 months there is going to be intense pressure and workload on the players….

Yes and there’s probably no rest in between as a lot of series were put on hold due to the pandemic. …

Rohit Sharma’s absence is hurting us.
Also Bhuvi’s experience vs Australia is also a major thing we are missing

Yes Stephen, for India to chase 350+ scores Rohit is very important. Also we are lacking Bhuvi’s death bowling skills.
