The last few days have been really productive for Indian Women’s Cricket Team.
We have got a new head coach, we’re going to play our first ever Day Night Test, we’re travelling to England after a long while, there are discussions about Women’s IPL and a big bash contract for Shafali Verma & Radha Yadav as well…..
Things were really bad for the last few months as we were not getting much international games since the Covid Outbreak.
It looked like administration has completely forgotten about women’s team while men’s team kept on getting games constantly since September 2020.
We lost the last home series against South Africa in both the ODIs and T-20 formats.
But it looks like finally things have started to improve….
Let’s have a look at all the positive news we had in the last few days.
- First Ever Pink Ball Test for Indian Women’s Team
It’s a huge positive considering the fact that Indian team hasn’t played much test cricket.
It’ll be their first ever Pink Ball Test.
This match will be played in Perth from September 30 to October 3.
- England Tour
Indian Team is touring England for 1 Test and 3 ODIs.
This is their first international tour since the covid outbreak.
- Women’s IPL
There have been constant talks about Women’s IPL considering the fact how Men’s IPL has been a blessing for Indian Cricket.
This tournament might be played with four franchisee and will be a boost for Indian domestic players as they’ll get a chance to play alongside international stars.
- Appointment of new head coach
Former off spinner Ramesh Powar has been appointed as the head coach for Indian women’s team.
A new coach might result in a new approach and better approach considering the fact that Harmanpreet Kaur & Smriti Mandhana supported him during his previous stint with the team.
- Shafali Verma & Radha Yadav getting Big Bash Contract
Shafali Verma has signed a contract with Sydney Sixers while Radha Yadav will also be seen playing in one of the two Sydney based franchise.
All these positives are a clear indication that Indian Women’s Team is on the right path and in the right direction.
We failed to grab trophies in the last few ICC events but the kind of progress we have seen in the last few years it shows this team certainly deserve ICC trophies.
Let’s see how well this team responds to these opportunities…
