Gujarat Titans : From winning hearts to conquering the IPL Title

The most prestigious sports trophy being chased by 10 tremendously skilled teams and who would have thought the debutant Gujarat Titans would finish as the champions.

Cricket Fans were used to see Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians lifting the trophy again and again and the league badly needed a new champion.

After a long gap of six years we finally have a new champion side in Gujarat Titans conquering the prestigious IPL trophy.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won it in 2016 and since then it has gone either in the hands of Mumbai Indians or Chennai Super Kings.

But tables have completely turned this season as both these champion sides finished right at the bottom of the table.

Right from the beginning, this season was all about Gujarat Titans.

From some good draft picks to criticism over their auction selection Gujarat Titans have come a long way forward.

So what factors made sure Gujarat’s successful run this season. Let’s have a look….

1. Aggressive bowling lineup.

As they say batters win you matches but bowlers win you tournaments.

Gujarat Titans was blessed with the services of Mohammad Shami, Rashid Khan and Lockie Ferguson.

While they got enough support from Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal and Sai Kishore as well.

These bowlers constantly kept hunting for wickets and never allowed the opponents to post a high score.

2. Dependable finishers.

Gujarat Titans have won seven matches while chasing this season. Most of them came in the last over.

Whenever the match looked like going away from Gujarat’s grip they found a new hero.

Whether it’s Hardik Pandya, David Miller or Rahul Tewatia, all of them showed how good they were while chasing targets.

3. Hardik’s Leadership.

How can someone not mention Hardik Pandya’s leadership while discussing Gujarat’s success!!

Hardik showed how to lead from the front and batted in the top order which he’s not used to.

He scored 487 runs and grabbed 8 wickets as well. His man of the match performance in the final was the cherry on the cake.

While Hardik is a huge follower of MS Dhoni, he showed that he’s learnt a thing or two from him as well.

Guys like Wriddhiman Saha and David Miller who were not getting enough games for their previous franchise did exceedingly well for the Gujarat Titans and played a crucial role in the grand victory.

A team with very few genuine match-winning batters dominated the whole tournament like a boss which isn’t less than a fairytale.
