Hello Guys,
The most consistent team of the Indian Premier League is back to it’s old form.
Chennai Super Kings was the first team to get knocked out of the tournament in 2020.
It was the first time in 13 years when CSK failed to qualify for the qualifiers and most of the critics ruled them out for the next season as well.
One can easily see how improved they’re compared to their performance in the IPL 2020.
CSK has already won 9 out of the 11 games they’ve played till now and thus are placed on the top of the points table.
They’ve also become the first team to qualify for the playoffs and they look certain to finish in the first two spots.
While it’s the opening stand, pace bowling or fielding they’ve improved in all the departments of the game.
So what are the reasons for this miraculous change??
Let’s have a look….
1. Opening Stand of Faf & Ruturaj :
Chennai Super Kings has possibly got the most consistent opening batsmen in the tournament.
Both Faf Du Plessis & Ruturaj Gaikwad are among the top-5 scorers of the league.
Ruturaj specifically, has looked to take on the toughest of bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Rashid Khan.
2. Improved Pace Bowling :
CSK has looked to play a genuine pacer in Josh Hazelwood this year which has resulted in a much improved overall bowling.
Dwayne Bravo is in a purple patch and is getting some crucial wickets for the team.
3. Inclusion of Moeen Ali :
Inclusion of Moeen Ali has certainly changed fortunes for CSK.
He’s consistently getting chance at number 3 and is utilising that opportunity.
His fearless approach is allowing others to bat comfortably around him.
There was a time when CSK relied heavily on Thala MS Dhoni and Chinna Thala Suresh Raina.
Both of them have retired from international cricket now and thus it’s quite obvious that others take that added responsibility so that they can lead to smooth transition.
Considering the mega auction before IPL 2022, CSK will look to forward to build a team for the future.

Great to see youngster like Ruturaj Gaikwad playing consistently. In IPL 2020, he got out on a duck on his debut and his improvement in this season is truly mesmerizing.

Yes Stephen, he has improved a lot compared to the last season and now looks like he’s the best batsman in the CSK lineup considering the current form…
