Team India’s Surreal Depth

Hello Guys,

24 Players in England, 9 players in isolation in Sri Lanka and Team India still went on to complete the T20 series and almost won a game!!!

How surreal is that??

Most of the international teams don’t even have a good bench strength beyond their first 15 players.

At the same time, Team India is considering to use a Two Squad Approach in these challenging times when players just don’t have to face workload but also bio-bubble fatigue.

Losing 2-3 guys can actually destroy complete teams and then there is Team India who kept playing when their 33 players weren’t available.

They clearly had an option to suspend the series once Krunal Pandya tested Covid positive and 8 players in close contact were asked to isolate.

What does it show??

It shows the bench strength and the depth of Indian Cricket. A team which doesn’t rely only on 3-4 players.

A team which destroyed Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy when their 8-9 key players were injured.

We have seen a champion team like South Africa, which lost its complete strength when Hashim Amla, Ab De Villiers, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel retired.

The same happened with Sri Lanka once Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Muttiah Muralitharan left the team.

But Team India has already seen two transitions which haven’t affected them much.

While players like Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble retired almost at the same time.

Sachin Tendulkar also left the team after some time.

A few years later, Virendra Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh retired.

Last year MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina retired too. But team India never looked like really missing someone.

For the past 7-8 years, youngsters have always raised their performance to compete at the international level.

This has now become the best feature of Indian Cricket. We’re ready to rest even the most important players and still able to beat the best teams in the world.

Whether it’s Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin or Jasprit Bumrah, all these guys have got enough opportunities to rest and to spend time with their families.

Work load management has become a regular feature of this Indian side, and we’ve replacements and cover for almost all players and positions.

These are some serious traits, and they show the character of this side and the sort of talent pool we have.

Team India is ruling world cricket for the last 8-10 years now and the depth they have shown in the last one year it clearly shows that this team is growing leaps and bounds.
